In world where people are asking for smaller government budgets, our iconic buffoons and buffoonettes in the Chicago City council are looking to add another layer of bureaucratic incompetence.
Aldermanette Marge Laurino introduced an ordinance to crate an Office of Legislative Counsel- the City council’s own law department. According to the buffoonette, this would act as a bridge between the City Law Department and the council. This office would read ordinances for the alderman. She claims it would avoid controversies like the parking meter scam.
Why does the council need someone to read their ordinances? You do not need to read anything requiring a rubber stamp. It would probably be better if there was a literacy test for Aldermen? Or upon election, they be forced to take a remedial reading class. It would be cheaper too.
This being Chicago, there is only one reason for the creation of this office- some clout heavy incompetent lawyer needs a job. Probably a friend or family member of Aldermanette Laurino. Also, since it is an office, there are patronage attorney and staff jobs available for the unemployable friends and families of Alderman.
These clowns really know how to waste our tax dollars.
