Developer Dumitru Curescu was convicted in federal court for paying a city inspector a ten thousand dollar bribe to overlook building code violations in one of his projects. He faces ten years in prison.
Curescu was indicted in 2008 during Operation Crooked Code; a joint effort between the city Inspector General, the FBI, and the Postal Inspection Service. 21 people have been convicted. Fifteen have been city employees.
So far there is not one mayoral or aldermanic candidate who will stop this behavior. They are all in this- either condoning it or just ignoring it. It is time to replace all fifty aldermen and elect a mayor who will put his foot down and end this rampant corruption. Unfortunately no one has come forward. Yet.
