That was Rahm Emanuel in 2006, when as chair of the DCCC, he pulled off a string of Democratic congressional election wins. He actually bragged about machine politics. He would. Rahm was politically bred, born, and weaned on Chicago machine politics. Ask his pals Rod Blagojevich, Jimmy DeLeo (D- Da Mob), and Rich Daley.
The kid is all grown up. Now, he is one of the big dogs. He is running for mayor. Do we need another admitted machine hack on the Fifth Floor of City Hall? Do we want another politically rapacious, mangy, barking, bowser to rule this town?
Of course the competition is no better. Democratic machine hacks, one and all. Curs, flea bitten firebrands, floppy eared curbstone setters, prevaricating pointers, greedy retrievers, pontificating poodles, and chattering Chihuahuas. Not an honest one in the bunch. Pity. In a city this large, with so many well known competent, decent, honorable, and honest people- people with integrity-, there is not one who will challenge the
The problem? Kachingo$! As one potential candidate said, when asked if he would run for mayor, “do you have a brief case with five million dollars“. Five million smackeroos. That is what Rahm will spend. That, plus help from
CREEP* Organizing for America (barackobama.com), which appears to be helping his campaign.
If, perchance, Rahm is forced into a run off, he is expected to spend another four million dollars. Nine million dollars to run for mayor of Chicago. To continue the graft, boodle, crime and corruption, which funds the machine and keeps the machine a national Democratic powerhouse.
Rahm is not running to reform Chicago. He is not running to rebuild Chicago. He is not running to redeem Chicago. Rahm is not running to improve Chicago. Rahm is running for power. He will not bring integrity, dignity, and honor the to office of mayor. Rahm will continue the tradition of shame, dishonor, dishonesty, and scandal plaguing the city. He is running to keep the same medieval feudal system in place and, to make it stronger. For himself and his friends in high places.
Nothing will change, except the name on the fifth floor and signs all over town. The revolving door of corruption will keep flourishing. And expanding.
