UPDATE: The Center for American Progress Action Fund has a contact form, with a rather large comment box. “Have a question or comment for American Progress, or for our staff? Please fill out the form below to let us know—and remember, the shorter and more specific your comment, the faster we can respond.” Maybe large numbers enterprising folks can contact them and ask for a list of their donors and contributors. Remember to be short and specific.
Sunshine is supposed to be the best disinfectant. Except for progressives- those do as I say, not as I do folks. It is very curious that a blog, Think Progress, is so influential in the White House. Some say more influential than traditional media. TP’s alleged report on the Chamber of Commerce and foreign money is being touted by the President and his advisers as evidence of a deep foreign conspiracy to hijack the 2010 and 2012 elections by an evil greedy cabal of national and international businesses.
Think Progress demands the U.S. Chamber of Commerce open their books, release the lists of their contributors, and tell the whole world who is backing ads against progressive politics. Well, hold on there buckeroo.
Just who is Think Progress? Why it is a blog operated by the Center for American Progress. The center for American Progress is run by John Podesta, a former chief of staff to Bill Clinton and a Democratic Political operative. He is described as the left’s Karl Rove. Mr. Podesta, through the Center for American Progress, also influenced the formation of President Obama’s administration. They are a very powerful progressive advocacy group, on par with the conservative Heritage Foundation and American Enterprise Institute. They are a project of the American Progress Action Fund- also started by the secretive Mr. Podesta.
They, through their blog, are backing and financing the brutal attacks on the Chamber of Commerce. They are backing and financing the demands the Chamber come clean about their finances. They are guiding the administration and the Democratic party in HUAC type attacks against the Chamber.
The Center For American Progress Action Fund and the Center for American Progress are extremely secretive about their finances and donors. Calls for them to open their books- reveal who their donors are- have been consistently and persistently rebuffed. They flat out refuse. Seeing as they are so influential in this administration and in public policy, one would think they would be honest and forthcoming. One would think wrong.
There are some well known individuals who have funded them- international financial terrorist George Soros, Peter Lewis of Progressive Insurance, film producer Stephen Bing, and the Sandler banking family. But, they receive tens of millions of undisclosed secret money from corporations and foundations. It is not known how much of the money comes from foreign sources, especially laundered through foundations.
If Think Progress parent wants the books of the Chamber of Commerce opened, then they should open their own books first. They should prove they are not being controlled by a cabal of evil, greedy, foreign interests who want to undermine the United States. They should do it now.
