|Hallelujah brothers and sisters!|
“A-a-a-men, A-a-a-men, A-a-men Amen Amen!”
The once venerable Chicago Tribune, in a fit of religious fervor, has endorsed the Church Lady, Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, for President of the Cook County Board. The interview must have been held in a revival tent.
The editorial board believes she will bring integrity to Cook County government. Chicago Alderman? Integrity? In the same sentence?
Like Harold Washington, when he admitted a mistake appointing Pat Quinn, the Chicago Tribune must have been blind and staggering when they made this endorsement. Maybe they were snorting too much of that hopium*. Her vociferous support of Joe The Lobster Berrios should have disqualified her from any endorsement by the media, let alone, the staid Chicago Tribune.
They refer to her University of Chicago education. Larry Bloom was a U of C grad and we saw how that worked out didn’t we? Convicted felon. They refer to her independence- her endorsing The Lobster is not independent, it is machine hack politics. She has received hundreds of thousands of dollars in public employee union donations- conflict of interest anyone? Independence? Integrity? Ethics?
The Tribune opines the Church Lady will bring county government out of the swamp? How can a swamp creature drain the very swamp she relies on for survival? She is part and parcel of that swamp.
The Church Lady is not an independent and no reformer. She never has been. The Church Lady sat by quietly in the city council, year after year, like a house plant; never a champion for ethics reform- or any type of reform. She did what she was told and voted how she was supposed to vote. Once in a while, she was allowed to buck Mayor Daley. She is a phony reformer and independent.
In a time where change is in the air, the Chicago Tribune would have us vote for the same old same old. More corruption, more patronage, more waste, fraud, and mismanagement. And, higher taxes. When people are clamoring for good government, efficient government, ethical government, and cheaper government, the Tribune endorses a woman whose dismal record proves the opposite.
The Church Lady must have dazzled the Tribune Editorial Board with her religious fervor and zeal. She had to have dazzled them with her ardent fervor and her righteous conviction.
Can we say AMEN!!!!!!!!!
