Rahm Emanuel had the temerity to actually say that. The whole country better off? The economy is still in the dumps. The unemployment rate is hovering around ten percent (True rate is one and a half to two times that). The whole world is laughing at us and thinks the President he served is a light weight and a push over.
Worse, though, is the hatred, fear, and loathing. Not of the extremists on either end of the political spectrum- they hate everyone. The middle class hates our government- the White House and the Legislature. They loath them. They also fear the American way of life will be a fading memory. They fear for their freedom and their liberty. They fear too much control has been given over to government.
It is not just the Right who feels this way. Moderates, liberals, and plain middle of the roaders feel this way. In their minds, they have seen the enemy and it is the President and his party. Rahm Emanuel served that president and that party well.
Poll after poll, survey after survey demonstrate the people are turning against their government with disgust usually reserved for heinous criminals. No one feels they are better off. No one sees a brighter future. No one feels Rahm Emanuel’s service to the President helped our country.
Now, Rahm is coming to Chicago to work his magic. We already witnessed what he and his ilk did in Washington D.C. Do we really want a person who generates so much hatred, fear, and loathing to run for mayor of Chicago? Chicago does not need Rahm Emanuel.
