Cook County GOP Chairman Lee Roupas issued a press release criticizing the Church Lady, Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, for chiding Forrest Claypool. Claypool’s sin- having the gall and temerity to dare run against Joe The Lobster Berrios for Cook County Assessor.
Ms. Preckwinkle, Democratic candidate for President of the Cook County Board, sings hymns and psalms of praise for the venally and criminally corrupt Democratic Cook County Assessor candidate Joe “The Lobster” Berrios. Can you say amen brothers and sisters?
“PRECKWINKLE: If people who are Democrats want to run for office, they ought to get in the Democratic primary and run and not wait until the Democrats have made their decisions and then cherry pick the race they want to run in as an independent.”
ROUPAS: “I have a two word answer to Toni Preckwinkle’s bizarre statements in support of Joe Berrios, the leading practitioner of Stroger-style, pay-to-play politics in Cook County, and those two words are: Roger Keats.”
Roger Keats, Preckwinkle’s opponent, is a decent man with a compelling background. He will bring honor, dignity, and integrity to the Cook County Board of Commissioners. The Church Lady will bring her carpet bag from city hall and all her corrupt baggage. Soon, the county will be more criminally corrupt than the city council, if that is possible. Having Joe Berrios as Assessor, and it is a perfect continuing criminal enterprise. Having Preckwinkle sing Hallelujahs is disgusting, deplorable, detestable, and despicable.
The Church Lady chided Claypool, for not “playing by the rules”. There is only one rule- Rule One- The Lobster does not want an opponent. Especially a fellow Democratic opponent. The rule is, whatever Joe the Lobster wants, Joe The Lobster gets. Joe The Lobster is the Chairman of the Cook County Democratic Party. He is Da Bosssss It does not look good when a fellow Democrat runs against da boss.
Toni Preckwinkle claims she is a reformer. Preckwinkle is a Chicago Alderman. So, that throws the reformer cred right out the window. Secondly, she is backing a crook, liar, and thief. Claypool, though a Democrat, has bucked the party in the past, especially current board president, Todd Urckle Stroger.
Preckwinkle has some ethical lapses of her own to answer for- being a Chicago Alderman, she does not have to answer to anybody. Even if the Feds grab her, she can claim the fifth- or is it drink the fifth and clam up? There is also a new book coming out which blows the lid off of Preckwinkle’s cred and, well, um, er, ah… oh hell, it calls her a thief- or teef in Chicago parlance.
Welcome to the world of bizzarro Chicago politics.
