A corrupt building inspector received a 21 month sentence and a $15,000.00 fine in Federal Court yesterday. He was convicted of shaking down a building owner for a five hundred dollar bribe. He was convicted in March. This was part of a joint investigation between the City’s Inspector General’s Office, the US Postal Inspection Service, and the FBI.
To date 12 current and former city employees have been convicted in this investigation. It is a real shame. The elected and appointed officials in this burg are sitting on a rat’s nest of corruption. It seems every week or so another city worker or official is caught, accused of, indicted for, or convicted of corruption. The situation is intolerable. Aldermen, workers, appointees, other elected officials; the list goes on. The whole city government should be charged in a massive RICO case for operating a continuing criminal enterprise.
The City of Chicago was founded upon crime and corruption. Very little has changed. Very little has been done to curtail it. The Eleventh Commandment is the only rule- Thou shalt not get caught.
