The Blame game

Mayor Malaprop was asked about the escalating violent crime in the city.  He pointed to Chicago Police Superintendent Fancy pants.  Superintendent Fancy Pants “blamed a “24/7 news cycle” for creating the mistaken impression that crime is on the rise.”

As stated before, the blame falls squarely on the Fifth Floor of City Hall.  Mayor Malaprop has ignored the gang problem and rising drug cartel problem for almost twenty years.  The major gangs and drug cartels have grown larger and more blatant.  It is now almost too late.  His biggest mistake was hiring Fancy Pants as Superintendent of Police.  A man with no police experience.  Oh, Fancy Pants can bore you with statistics, facts, and figures.  But, he could not tell you how to dismantle street gangs or drug cartels to save his own miserable life.  Instead, like his boss, he blames the media.

Mayor Malaprop wore out the gun meme.  Now he has  to look for something else.  Beating a dead horse, here it is again- you have to go after the gangs tooth and nail.  You have to go after the leadership.  Same with the drug cartels.  Fancy Pants knows who they are.  Give the names to the media.  Then, go after them from the top down.  Make their lives miserable; a living law enforcement and media hell. Bring the Justice Department on board and work together to totally dismantle these criminal enterprises.

Mayor Malaprop will  not do this.  He refuses.  He would rather shed phony tears at police funerals than see one dead gang leader on the street.  Superintendent Fancy Pants knows as much about gangs and drugs as he does about writing a parking ticket.  Which is nothing.  So they can blame anyone they want.

The question is, why should you- or worse, the media- believe them?
