Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Who is in charge of CNN?  We know that the inmates are running the asylum at MSNBC, but who is running CNN?  Anchors Kyra Phillips and John Roberts, after a discussion of the Sherrod incident, agreed the internet, especially bloggers, should be regulated.  There should be what they call a gatekeeper- what ever that is.

“There’s going to have be a point in time where these people have to be held accountable,” Phillips said. “How about all these bloggers that blog anonymously? They say rotten things about people and they’re actually given credibility, which is crazy. They’re a bunch of cowards, they’re just people seeking attention.”

Bloggers who say rotten things and given credibility?  What about the over paid Keith Olbermann, who spews toxic waste for millions of dollars a year?  That is credibility?  What about Ed Schultz, who spews hate speech to his six million listeners?  Should they be regulated?  Should they have a gatekeeper?  A muzzle?

The media is becoming too full of itself.  They, who fight tooth and nail to say what they want, how they want, when they want, about who they want, where ever they want, demand others should not have the same rights?  They, who will sue at the drop of a hat to protect themselves?  They want the rest of us silenced?

I guess the First Amendment only applies to them.  There must be some secret clause in the Constitution giving them, and only them, the right to express themselves.  Maybe CNN needs a “gatekeeper” to protect our rights to free speech from their own talking heads.

This is how the erosion of freedom starts.  Look at history.  Look at the rise of the Nazi Party or  the rise of Communism in the USSR.  It started the same way.  Gradually convince people their rights and freedoms are not important.  Gradually convince people the critics should have no rights or freedoms.  Gradually convince people to surrender their freedom.  Gradually convince people they should be slaves to government controlled media or worse, the media controlled government.

CNN owes the country an apology.  Fat chance of that.
