It’s about time!

Chicago Sun Times

“The six-year-long battle over Wal-Mart’s $1 billion Chicago expansion plan ended Thursday when organized labor folded its tent, freeing its City Council allies to do the same.”

This is a total shame.  It took six years to get permission to build a store.  Six years!  Wal-Mart wasted time and money because of the corrupt city council, led by the chief gray wolf Alderman Ed Burke.  Is it any wonder why smart business people and manufacturers do not want to open facilities in Chicago?

What do zoning and building permits have to do with labor negotiations?  Nothing.  Especially when there are no employees to negotiate over.  Even the courts have ruled these types of interferences are not legitimate.  Yet, Ed Burke and his pack of gray wolves and jackals persist in their venal corruption.  They were bought like hogs at the market and are owned like slaves.  They care not about the people.  They only care about those fat campaign bribes.

Someone with intelligence must have done some simple arithmetic-  sophisticated math was not needed- and came up with the figures.  The aldermen were losing voters.  Masses of them.  All the money in the world is useless if no one will vote for you.  This is the only reason they caved in.  This is the only reason Ed Burke called the jackals off.  This is the only reason organized labor caved too.  If they lost their pals in the council, they would lose much of their power in Chicago.

Do not be fooled.  The Wal-Mart situation was being followed very carefully by businesses.  This disgrace will cost the city in the long run.  What business entity would want to locate or relocate here if they had to deal with the buffoonery of the anti-business city council?  Recently a manufacturer told this blogger he would never even think of locating a plant within the corporate limits of Chicago.  He probably is not alone.

Chicago is losing jobs and revenue due to the total corruption of the current City Council and its venal leadership.  It is time for a change.  It is hoped the pro Wal-Mart forces can be coalesced into anti-incumbent forces and eject the gray wolves and jackals from the Council.
