Wal-Mart versus corrupt Labor

Chicago Sun Times

An impassioned Mayor Daley today portrayed Wal-Mart’s $1 billion Chicago expansion plan as a “bonanza” of revenue and jobs and demanded to know why organized labor slammed the door on the company’s offer of an $8.75-an-hour minimum wage.

Like it or not, Daley is right.  Organized labor is doing nothing except bribing aldermen to stop people from getting jobs and the city from gaining revenue.  The living wage is a scam, a fraud, and a big lie perpetrated by the charlatans of big labor, especially SEIU.

The living wage is nothing more than the average difference between real wages and the cost of union dues.   If the unions get to organize the so far non-existent employees, they will get the dues and the employees will take home the same money they would have gotten without Labor’s interference.  There is no employee wage benefit.  Only the unions benefit.  Maybe.

“I’m not gonna threaten any aldermen. These aldermen are in a tough spot. We’re not looking to throw them in the middle of this,” Ramirez said.
But, he said, “These aldermen know our support is real and our friendship is real. We’re willing to let that speak for itself.”

Ramirez doesn’t have to threaten any Aldermen.  He and his unions own them.  Their support is not votes, but campaign bribes.  Unfortunately, the voters are speaking.  The Aldermen are between a rock and a hard place.  They could vote in favor of Wal-Mart and get reelected.  Or they could take all the cold hard cash from the unions, taking their chances.  Those greed infected Aldermen would sell their own mothers out for money.

Worse. Organized Labor does not create jobs.  They build nothing, manufacture nothing, contribute nothing to society, and do nothing for the economy.  All they do is suck money from people in order to buy politicians and publicity to stay relevant and powerful.  It is all about money and power.  People are just mere pawns.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out.  Ramirez has proven one thing.  No matter what, Chicago’s reputation is intact.  It is still the most corrupt city in America.
